The Integrated Transport Centre Announces Readiness of School Transport System and Intensifies Field Inspection Protocols to Ensure Student Safety

Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, 26 August 2026 – The Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), an affiliate of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has announced the readiness of the school transport system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, as part of a comprehensive inspection and operational plan executed in preparation for the 2026–2027 academic year. The plan encompasses verifying the readiness of over 10,000 licensed school buses that comply with the Integrated Transport Centre's requirements and approved safety standards, ensuring their readiness to transport more than 279,000 students safely and seamlessly at the start of the academic year. Additionally, the Centre continues to monitor the "Salama" digital system, which enables parents to track their children's school bus journeys in real time. The "Salama app" has recorded over 126,000 downloads, enhancing family reassurance and supporting the efficiency of school transport services.

The Integrated Transport Centre affirmed that early preparation represents a primary pillar in ensuring a safe and organised start to the academic year, through the integration of inspection and operational efforts, strengthening coordination with schools and operating companies, and monitoring the readiness of the school transport system and its associated digital services. This contributes to smooth journeys from the very first day of school and enhances the confidence of the school community.

The plan involves executing inspection campaigns targeting schools and operating companies to verify bus readiness and compliance with technical and regulatory requirements prior to the start of the academic year, alongside specialised training workshops for school bus drivers, supervisors, and transport coordinators to raise awareness of safety protocols during student journeys.

These efforts are integrated with a suite of civil engineering and traffic improvements implemented by the Centre around several educational facilities. These include traffic flow management, parking expansion, and measures to enhance the operational efficiency of school buses, contributing to reduced congestion and improved safety in school zones at the start of the academic year.
