Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Operations

Overview

Autonomous Vehicle operations in Abu Dhabi deliver safe, efficient, and innovative mobility for residents and visitors. All services are managed through AViTOMS, a centralized digital platform developed by Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning Center (SUTPC) in collaboration with ITC. AViTOMS currently streamlines the process for operators by handling trial applications, NOC issuance, and live deployment, while providing continuous oversight of all active autonomous vehicles for managing entities. All deployments comply with ITC regulations and guidelines, as well as the UNECE Cybersecurity Guidelines and Federal Data Protection Law No. 45 of 2021, ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, and data protection. Future phases of AViTOMS will introduce additional capabilities such as company registration, incident reporting, and vehicle feedback monitoring to further enhance transparency and system efficiency. Leading operators including K2 and WeRide are already registered on AViTOMS, supporting pilot deployments across the Emirate and driving Abu Dhabi’s vision for a smart, connected, and sustainable transport ecosystem.
