MAWAQiF, the parking sector of the Integrated Transport Centre specializes managing and organizing parking spaces in Abu Dhabi Emirate. MAWAQiF developed a parking management program that provides sustainable solutions aimed at ensuring a more accessible and less congested city. This initiative supports Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 to place Abu Dhabi as one of the leading world capitals.
MAWAQiF inspectors monitor the sectors where the system is implemented to enforce the parking law (No.18 year 2009) and take appropriate measures and offer advice and consultancy about the related services and regulations.
Residents parking spaces are part of the standard parking spaces located in residential areas. They are marked with a turquoise line or with ‘Resident Permit Only’ MAWAQiF signage.
Villa residents parking spaces are located in villa areas. They are marked with ‘Villa Resident Permit Only’ MAWAQiF signage.
Residents’ permits are issued to the property owner or tenant in addition to first- and second-degree relatives living in the same residence

There are seven public multi-storey car parks within Abu Dhabi operated by ITC which include 3788 parking spaces. Holders of multi-storey permit can use it in all buildings in Abu Dhabi City.

MAWAQiF is responsible for regulating and monitoring all private multi-story car parks to ensure that owners are committed to the technical specification and the utilization instructions.

Following the authorized technical regulations based on Law No. 18 of 2009 concerning the regulation of vehicles parking in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Authorized buildings to be built after the enactment of the law:
Residential Buildings:
Allocating one free parking space for each residential apartment, starting with the ones with more rooms than the others. In the case of two apartments with the same number or rooms, priority in distribution will be given to the oldest occupants of the building in terms of tenancy period.
Multi-use buildings - “Residential and Commercial”
Parking spaces distribution would be allocated as per two phases.
Allocation of one free parking space for each residential apartment, starting with those apartments with more rooms than others. In the case of two apartments with the same number of rooms, priority in distribution will be given to the oldest occupants of the building in terms of tenancy period.
On the following phase, if there are additional parking spaces after the completion of phase 1, they will be distributed to other occupants “Offices” of the building based on apartment surface area.
Residential Buildings:
Allocation free parking spaces to the building tenants, owners of commercial and services activities based on apartment surface area.
A parking lot with spaces dedicated for trucks, buses and heavy vehicles available for the public 24/7.

Towing and impounding fees will be calculated against vehicles violating Law No 18 of 2009 the Regulation of Vehicles Parking management in Abu Dhabi Emirate and its executive regulations as follows:

per day starting from the date of impounding the vehicle for the first month

AED 500 paid once to cover transport and towing fees

per month for extra months afterwards until the car is freed or sold in an auction
The customer should visit one of the customer’s service centres located in the impound area and submit the following documents:
A copy of the Emirates ID or license of the impounded vehicle’s owner
(in case the owner’s name is different, a first-degree proof should be submitted or who legally represent the owner)
Vehicle ownership card
In case the impounded vehicle was not freed by the owner within 6 months, it will be transferred to be sold in the auction according to the procedures determined by DMT.
